Objectives

1) To provide high quality education for women leaders from Asian countries with theoretical and practical skills and knowledge to enhance gender equality and empower women for sustainable development

2) To develop leadership and professional capacity of women in the public sector so that they can play key roles in mainstreaming gender equality in national policies, strategies, and development projects/programs of their countries

3) To share Korea’s development experience that can be applied to socio-economic development and gender equality of participants’ countries

4) To build cooperative relationships between Korea and partner countries in Asia through the global network of women leaders

Language: Have a good command of spoken and written English to complete courses and write a master’s thesis

Accommodation:

University dormitory room (facilities provided)

▣ Qualification:

1) In good physical and mental health to complete the program

2) A female citizen of the following 24 countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Island, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Georgia

3) Nominated by the partner country’s government

4) Currently employed by the government or other public institutions.

 

* Public institutions include organizations run by the government (e.g. national enterprises, national banks, national research institutes, or public schools).

5) Hold a bachelor’s degree or above, officially recognized by the partner country’s government

6) Has sufficient command of both spoken and written English to take courses and write a thesis in English

7) Not have previously participated in any master’s degree scholarship program provided by the Korean government

8) Not be a person who has previously withdrawn from KOICA’s scholarship program

 

▣Required Documents

1) Completed KOICA application form

2) Recommendation letter from applicants’ government

3) Completed application form for Ewha GSIS [Form 1]

4) Certificate of current employment

5) A copy of passport

6) Two passport-sized photos (One should be attached on the Ewha GSIS application form.)

7) Statement of Purpose (SOP) [Form 2]

8) An essay on “Gender equality and women’s leadership in Asia” [Form 3]

※ The SOP (7) and Essay (8) must first be emailed directly to the Admissions Office (ewhakoica@ewha.ac.kr) as electronic files in MS Word format. Handwritten statements will not be accepted.

9) Two letters of recommendation [Form 4]

- One letter from a person who has known the applicant long enough to write a letter of recommendation with authority (e.g., professor)

- One letter from the present working organization

10) Photocopied bachelor’s degree and official undergraduate transcripts (translated in English)
